Website of Central State Historical Archives of Ukraine in Lviv
It was created in November 1939 under the name of the Central Archive of Old Acts in Lviv on the basis of the archives that existed before the Second World War — the Archive of Old Acts of Lviv, the Zemskyi Archive, as well as a number of departmental, corporate and private collections. In the CSHA of Ukraine there are 764 funds with a total of more than 1 million 115 thousand cases for the 12 21st century; the length of the shelves of the archive is more than 12 thousand running metres. Repositories and work chambers are located in two architectural monuments: the former Bernardine Monastery and the Royal Arsenal. This unique treasury of archival documents has preserved documents of various historical epochs for over 200 years: the Kingdom of Galicia Volhynia (13 14th century), the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the Commonwealth (14 18th century), the Austrian and Austro-Hungarian Monarchy (1772 1918), the Western Ukrainian People’s Republic (1918 1919), the Ukrainian People’s Republic (1917 1921), inter war Poland (1919 1939), the periods of Soviet (1939 1941) and German (1941 1944) occupations, the Soviet period (after 1944) and independent Ukraine (after 1991). The oldest archival documents are represented by unique birch bark letters, dating from about 1110 1137.

Is the original still online?
Online at last check (2026-10-02)
How is this checked?
Once a month, an automated check requests the original address of every archived website and records whether the server responds. The check runs from a server in the United States.
- A site counts as online if the server answers normally, or if it answers but refuses automated visitors (for example with a bot-protection page).
- A site counts as offline if the address returns "not found" or a server error, if the request times out, or if the domain no longer exists.
How to read the result
- Offline does not necessarily mean gone for good. Servers can be down temporarily, sites move to new addresses, and many Ukrainian sites block visitors from abroad, which can look the same as being offline.
- Online does not guarantee that the original content is still there. A domain can expire and be taken over, parked or replaced by a different site, and an error page can still come with a normal response.
- Older checks were imported from SUCHO's earlier records and may have followed slightly different rules.
Treat the status as a signal, not a verdict. If you know more about a site, please contact info at sucho.org.
